Adrian Newey, a renowned F1 designer, is leaving Red Bull, the team stated. He has worked in Milton Keynes for over 20 years.
In order to assist the team transform from middle runners and point scorers into Grand Prix winners and world champions, Newey joined Red Bull before to their second Formula One season in 2006 and has been a key player in their success ever since.

With vehicles developed by Newey thus far, Red Bull has won six constructor titles and seven drivers titles (between Sebastian Vettel and Max Verstappen, respectively), and they are now on track to repeat the feat in 2024.
To be sure, Newey will be leaving his position as Chief Technical Officer in the first quarter of 2025, as revealed in the lead-up to the Miami Grand Prix.
Newey will be leaving his Formula 1 design responsibilities to “focus on final development and delivery of Red Bull’s first hypercar, the hugely anticipated RB17,” according to a Red Bull statement. Up to the end of the 2024 season, he will see this project through to its conclusion and keep going to certain events to assist the F1 team trackside.
“Ever since I was a young boy, I wanted to be a designer of fast cars,” stated Newey. “I’m fortunate enough to have realized my ambition of working as an engineer in Formula 1.
It has been my immense privilege to have contributed significantly to Red Bull Racing’s development over the past nearly 20 years, from upstart newcomers to several title-winning teams.
“That being said, I believe now is a good time to pass the reins to others and set new goals for myself. For the rest of my time with the company, I will concentrate on RB17 development as the project nears its completion.

“I want to express my gratitude to all of the incredible individuals I have had the pleasure of working with at Red Bull over the last 18 years for their skill, commitment, and diligence. It has been an absolute honor, and I have no doubt that the engineering team is ready for the work that will go into the car’s ultimate evolution throughout the four years that this regulation set will be in place.
“On a personal level, I also want to express my gratitude to Christian, who has been my business partner and a friend of our families, as well as the shareholders, the late Dietrich Mateschitz, Mark Mateschitz, and Chalerm Yoovidhya, for their unflinching support during my tenure at Red Bull.
“Also, thanks to Oliver Mintzlaff for his stewardship and Eddie Jordan, my close friend and manager.”
Christian Horner, CEO of Red Bull Team and team principal, praised Newey’s impact on the team and called him a “true legend”.
Adrian has always had his hand on the technical tiller during our most memorable moments over the previous 20 years, he declared. Thirteen crowns in twenty seasons have been achieved thanks to his vision and genius.
